ECOLOGY: Exploring Bugs
Standards:
11.A.1a Describe an observed event.
11.A.1b Develop questions on scientific topics.
11.A.1c Collect data for investigations using measuring instruments and technologies.
This activity allows children to explore any open area outside, in search of bugs.
Simply allowing students to hunt for bugs and then helping them make observations encourages exploration of nature and science. Students can make notes on colors, sizes, where they found the bugs. Drawings of each bug are encouraged and observations can be compared back in the classroom.
Supplies: Clipboard and paper for observations, a ruler, a magnifying glass
